About

As a still photographer I look for an emotional truth that reveals itself from people and the places they inhabit., I am drawn to the sometimes divergent relationship between what someone shows outwardly to that which they may keep hidden beneath the surface. I gravitate toward simplicity and the mundane at times. Whether I’m shooting portraits, landscapes, photojournalism, or abstract/conceptual pieces, my aim is to tell a story that evokes an emotional response from the viewer, preferably one that lingers and provokes further thought

As a former Broadcast News Videographer (cameraperson) based in Philadelphia PA, I won 29 Mid Atlantic Emmy Awards, and was the photographer on two Edward R. Murrow Awards, one for an in depth investigation at a Philadelphia VA (Veterans) Hospital, another for a documentary Alex Scott: A stand for Hope that is in the permanent collection at the Paley Media Center in Los Angeles.

Before my career, my love of photography began in high school where I was shooting, developing and printing film in a darkroom. I went on to get a formal education in both still photography and 16mm documentary filmmaking and continued to shoot stills throughout my entire career in television. In 2004, my photographs were included in a traveling collective Women Artists: Past and Present which made several stops in Pennsylvania venues. Among them were the Erie Art Museum, the Phillips Museum of Modern Art, and the Martin Gallery. In 2008, I won Best of Show and Chairman’s Choice in a juried show at the Sketch Club in Philadelphia (oldest art gallery in the country).
